How Collar Creek makes money, in plain English — and why it doesn't change what we recommend.
The short version
Collar Creekis free to read because it’s funded by affiliate links. When you click a “View on Amazon” or “Check price” button and buy something, we may earn a small commission from the retailer — at no extra cost to you. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway. That commission is what keeps the lights on.
The Amazon Associates program
Collar Creek is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Most of the product links on this site currently go to Amazon, which is where the gear we cover is most widely available at competitive prices.
Other retailers and programs
Over time we may add links to other retailers or brand-direct stores through their affiliate programs. When we do, the same rule applies: we link where the deal is genuinely best for you, and if a link earns us nothing, we’re happy to use it anyway when it’s the right recommendation. Every outbound product link is marked as sponsored and routed through a redirect so we can measure which recommendations are useful.
How this affects our recommendations: it doesn’t
This is the part that matters. The commission does not decide our picks. We rank products by the method on our How We Researchpage, and we regularly recommend the cheaper option, the lower-commission option, or a product we earn nothing on, whenever it’s the better buy. We also name a product to skip on every roundup — something an outlet chasing commission at all costs would never do. Our full commitments are in our editorial policy.
Prices
Prices shown are pulled automatically from the retailer and dated. They change constantly, and a price that’s more than 48 hours old disappears rather than risk being wrong — so always confirm the current price on the retailer’s page before you buy.
